Courage Over Circumstances
Everyone has a testimony, and our stories share similarities. What differs is the Voice behind the heart experience. My hope is that through my shared journeys, you, my reader, will find courage to tell your own story. And/or that you'll overcome through the words I've penned.

About Northern California showcases where Lezlie VanErt-Winberry grew up in a family of ten. She moved to Redding as a third grader, knew she wanted to be a teacher by sixth grade, and was journaling (diaries back then) by the age of ten. Residing on a hill hosting city lights, mauve-colored sunsets, dramatic lightning shows, and the music of morning birds buzzing about, Lezlie prefers to spend her creative time outdoors writing, walking, riding, or kayaking. She earned her Bachelor Degree in Liberal Arts from CSU-Chico. Although recently retired from teaching, Lezlie relishes her transition into the area of her passion: speaking and writing. She has authored several books, published numerous articles, and spoken in varies venues over the past decades.
Lezlie’s writing began as a healing process when her third child, CaSondra, was diagnosed with a rare, cancerous disease before she turned two. When I Cried Out is a personal story about the loss of her daughter.
Lezlie also wrote an adventurous chapter book, Chinese Exchange, brainstormed by one of her previous 4th grade classes. Currently, she is working on a contemporary novel about a mother who is faced with the choice of her past.
Lezlie shares a close relationship with her three sons: Shawn, grandson Therynn and mom Carina; Ryan, wife Trisha and grandkids Maddison and Brody; Michael, wife Jordan, and grandgirls Kyah and Poppy.
